Prof. S. L. Saini Ph.D. in Mathematics the founder president of the Society started plantation in the year 1994 in Yamunanagar. Later with the public co-operation formed Yamuna Nagar Environmental Society (YES) at district. level and then Haryana Environmental Society (HES) at state level with the aim of Green and Clean Haryana.

With the public contribution and co-operation under Urban Social Forestry, we have provided green cover to 90% area of the tricity towns of Jagadhri and Yamuna Nagar, Jagadhri & workshop having population 500000 and spread over an area of about 120sq. kms. Plantation has been done in 12 more towns of 4 districts namely Yamuna Nagar, Ambala, Panchkula and Kurukshetra of Haryana State.

We have a team of more than 15,000 dedicated field workers/volunteers including people from all age groups and all walks of life spread over three districts and have our own tractor, water-tanker, trolley, steel tree-guard workshop and a plants nursery

The Society has planted and protected more than 2 lakh thirty thousands saplings, distributed free of cost another lot of 35,000 saplings of more than 65 species of flowery, shady & medicinal trees from our nursery. Carried out awareness campaigns in making the Yamuna Action plan & Sector Reform Pilot Project a success in district Yamuna Nagar.

Organized seminars, environment awareness camps, rallies, quiz competitions, Parbhat Pheries (Dawn Processions), Paryavarn Rath (Environment Chariot), Tree Plantation Melas (fairs), Street Theaters cleanliness drives, etc. Developed a Herbal Garden in the memory of martyres at Yamuna Nagar and we are developing a Pakshi Vihar ( Birds' Habitat) at City Centre Park (spread over an area of 35 acres of land), Yamuna Nagar. A Dada-Putta (Grand Parent Grand Children) *Triveni Park is being developed at Yamuna Nagar with the contribution of about 50 families. As a result of our efforts over the years thousands and thousands ofpeople have been motivated , a green wave has already begun blowing in the region and the twin towns of Jagadhri- Yamuna Nagar have been provided with a green cover. *Triveni = Bud (Ficus benghalensis ) + Peepal (Ficus religiosa ) + Neem (Melia azadirachta)
