Yamuna Action Plan Awareness ( YAP)

Our Society assisted the Distt. Yamuna Nagar authorities in making the Yamuna Action Plan project a great success. We motivated the general public through street plays, awareness camps, training camps, seminars, quiz contests, shramdan [voluntary manual labour), rallies, etc.

We motivated the people and made them understand about the need of conserving water and its resources in particular and environment in general so that people co-operate the administration in its YAP Project and our rivers may have flow of clean water. Also a team of our field workers headed by Dr. Saini visited the localities and told the people about the precautions to be taken by the citizens so that the sever age plants of our city function properly. We, with the public co-operation, especially Rotary Club of Yamuna Nagar - Riviera, and through their voluntary contribution, did a lot of plantation work in different localities of the twin-towns of Jagadhri/Yamuna Nagar during the awareness campaign under Y.A.P. Though the awareness campaign is over long back yet the motivated public is still assisting H.E.S. in nurturing the plantation done at that time. The public is committed to continue the same in the whole town until it is converted into a clean and green one.

Sector Reform Pilot Project under Rajiv Gandhi National Drinking Water Mission , Ministry of Rural Development Govt. of India

During the year 2000-2002, under the Water and Sanitation Sector-Reform Pilot Project aided by the Central Govt. and the World Bank, the H.E.S was also assigned the responsibilities of the rural area awareness campaign in the district of Yamuna Nagar. In the rural area the public was made aware to contribute their 10% share of the total budget to be spent in their respective villages for installing the tube-well and pipeline etc. required for the supply of potable drinking water to them.

The public was made aware about the need of neat and clean water, population control, environment conservation with a stress on bio-diversity conservation through short plays and related folk songs. In this campaign also we had a great success in achieving the objectives of water sanitation pilot project mission.
